AGS grows with former General Counsel of Zurich Group Germany

AGS appoints Dr Helmut Hoffmans as Of Counsel as of 1 January 2019.

AGS focuses on clear strategic growth and thematic focus. With Dr Helmut Hoffmans, AGS is gaining further reinforcement in the area of compliance as Of Counsel as of 1 January 2019. Dr Jacek Kielkowski (employment law, data protection, internal investigation, previously at Noerr) had previously joined the unit specialising in compliance cases in October 2018.

Until July 2015, Hoffmans was general counsel and general representative of Zurich Group Germany, where he was responsible for compliance as well as legal. Since 2015, Hoffmans has worked independently as a lawyer specialising in governance and compliance advice, (insurance) supervisory law, data protection and antitrust law.

Dr Jan Kappel, Managing Partner and Head of White Collar Crime and Compliance at AGS: "We are delighted to have Helmut Hoffmans join us. His vast experience in the insurance sector and in governance brings added value to our clients that is rare in the market. With his joining us, we are continuing our strategic orientation. As a highly specialised unit, we avoid "conflicts" and can offer our clients efficient "360° service" in complex, often very significant proceedings and disputes, be it in corruption, fraud or breach of trust cases, in labour law or data protection, in submission cartels, hard warranty or post-transaction disputes. Crucially, our clients want a fighter on their side on reasonable terms that they can rely on. That is what we stand for."
